  1. Dear Friends,
Please be very careful and quiet within the area of the Avon Heathcote Estuary Ihutai on the 20th. At this time, the godwits are returning from the very north of Asia and Alaska, they are very tired and hungry. Please take great care that the ones which have arrived so far are not disturbed in any way. Approximately, 900 have arrived with another 800 on their way. Let us pray that they have a safe journey home. The weather in Japan will disrupt their flight.
The Estuary has been assessed as an Estuary of International Significance and is part of the South East Asian Australasian Flightpath. It is a very important place.
    Yours sincerely in Christ,
    Ann Kennedy,
    Ecologist
Avon Heathcote Estuary Ihutai Trust Board.
